Hello

WILLIAM HANNA, aka COACH WILL
U14b National Coach

The Alexandria Soccer Association’s MLS Next Technical Director and Director of Futsal, Coach William Hanna, was recently appointed to the United States Futsal National Team Coaching staff. Will says:  "I am thrilled at the progress futsal is making in the United States and honored for the appointment to the U.S. Futsal National Team staff. I have witnessed firsthand the growth and development the sport has experienced in my role at ASA, and I am excited to continue sharing my passion while supporting futsal development in the United States.

My Story

I believe that great soccer players play futsal, and great futsal players play soccer. The two sports complement each other to create the complete package for developing the most efficient decision makers and the most technical and creative players, all while increasing game understanding and general sports IQ.

Coach Hanna has 15+ years of coaching experience in futsal and soccer, from youth to semi-professional levels. He was named the Virginia Youth Soccer Association Coach of the Year in 2019 and Tennessee State Coach of the year in 2014. Will currently works full-time for Alexandria Soccer Association (ASA) in Alexandria, Virginia, where he oversees its competitive futsal program and is also the MLS Next Technical Director. He coaches the U15 and U16 Men’s MLS Next teams, both undefeated at the MLS showcase in Dallas. He is also the head coach of the NPSL Men’s Soccer team in Alexandria, currently heading into the playoffs in the first place, standing in the Mid-Atlantic Conference, and ranked 17th nationally.

ASA introduced futsal to the DMV 10+ years ago with a vision to create high-level, accessible, and authentic futsal programming and experiences for the region. They now host one of the country's largest futsal leagues and an annual tournament, both of which offer recreational and competitive divisions. Coach Hanna was hired as the Director for the Futsal ID program (ASA’s comprehensive competitive futsal program) and has helped grow the program from just 6 teams to 70+ teams, with over 40 licensed futsal coaches in just 7 years. In his time as Futsal ID Director and a futsal coach at Alexandria, Will has led the program to 8 state championships, 9 regional championships, 4 national championships, 5 regional finalists, and 1 national finalist.

Coach Will is very grateful to his club’s leadership for the outstanding support and encouragement shown during this honor of being called up to the national team and looks forward to representing ASA further as he works at the highest level coaching for the U.S. Futsal National Team. In addition to this achievement, Coach Hanna looks forward to continuing to lead both Futsal and Soccer teams to victory at home for his club.
